Flight Lands 8am, Check-in Is 3pm? Here's the Plan

Updated 2026-11-03•Suvarnabhumi (BKK) & U-Tapao (UTP)

The short answer

  • Email the hotel now. Ask for early check-in. Want a room at 10am for sure? Book the night before.
  • Don't rush out of the airport. Pattaya is about 2 hours from Suvarnabhumi. Arriving at noon beats arriving at 10:30 and waiting.
  • Drop your bags at the front desk. Most hotels hold them free until your room is ready.
  • Eat, massage, beach. Lunch, a foot massage, a slow walk on the promenade. Then sleep at 3pm.

1. Before you fly: work the hotel

Standard Pattaya check-in is 2pm or 3pm. Early check-in is almost always "subject to availability" and sometimes paid. Heritage Pattaya and Welcome World both say fees may apply. The Standard Pattaya sells a "Standard Time" add-on to guarantee it. Walking Street Guest House offers free early check-in from 10am when a room is free.

  • Email or message the hotel with your flight number and landing time. Ask: early check-in possible? Cost? Can I use the pool and showers while I wait?
  • Need a bed the second you arrive? Book the previous night. It is the only guarantee.
  • Prices for early check-in vary by hotel and date. We don't list them: check with the hotel.

2. Getting there: pick your departure, not the first one

Clear immigration and bags first. Queues vary, so don't pre-book the tightest connection. All Suvarnabhumi buses leave from Level 1, Gate 8 and take about 2 hours.

From BKKMorning departuresCost
RRC bus to North Pattaya07:30, 09:30, 11:30, 13:30135 baht
RRC bus 389 to JomtienHourly, 06:00–22:00. Stops on Sukhumvit Rd and opposite Big C South158 baht
Bell Travel shared transfer (to hotel)08:30, 10:30, 12:30Depends on hotel zone: check Bell's site
Public taxi (Level 1, Gates 4–7)Any time, 24 hoursMeter or agreed price, + 50 baht airport fee + tolls
  • RRC says tickets often sell out an hour before departure. Book online if you're aiming for a specific bus.
  • One bag up to 20 kg rides free on RRC. Heavier bags cost extra.
  • Taxi to Pattaya: long trips can be on an agreed price. Agree the total, tolls included, before your bag goes in the boot.
  • From the bus stop, a Bolt or Grab or a baht bus finishes the trip. See getting around.
Landing at U-Tapao (UTP) instead? It's about 45 km south of Pattaya, under an hour by car. Taxi desks and pre-booked cars are the realistic morning option: Welcome Pickups publishes a fixed 1,000 baht. The cheap airport shuttle (150 baht to Big C South Pattaya) only runs a few times a day, from early afternoon, so it won't help at 8am. You'll be in town by mid-morning, which makes the wait longer. Plan breakfast and a massage.

3. Bags: drop them at the hotel

Go straight to your hotel, even if the room isn't ready. Heritage Pattaya, Welcome World and The Standard all say they hold luggage for early arrivals. Not every property does: one South Pattaya serviced apartment says it has no luggage storage. Ask when you book.

  • Keep a day bag: swimwear, a change of clothes, charger, toothbrush, passport.
  • Heading into Bangkok first? Bellugg left luggage at Suvarnabhumi (Level 2 arrivals, near Gate 4, 24 hours) charges 150–200 baht per bag per 24 hours, by size.

4. Where to shower and crash

  • Your own hotel. Ask if early arrivals can use the pool, gym or changing rooms. Some will, some won't.
  • Book the previous night. Costs one extra night. You get a bed and shower the moment you arrive.
  • Day-use room. Dayuse.com lists very few rooms in Pattaya. When we checked, there was one. Don't count on it.
  • Pool day pass. Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya on Beach Road lets non-guests use its pool from 9am to 7pm for 500 baht net per adult, with one cocktail. Ask what showers are included.
  • Massage. Most shops on our massage & spa list open around 10am. An hour of foot or Thai massage resets a long-haul body.
Skip the airport rest plan. Suvarnabhumi's Miracle Transit Hotel and Miracle lounges sit airside in the departures area. They're for people flying out, not for people who just landed.

5. Eat and kill time, low energy

  • Breakfast or brunch. Our Top 10 breakfast spots and coffee shops list hours for each place. Pick one near your hotel.
  • Beach Road promenade. Flat, free, by the sea. Walk it slowly, sit in the shade, drink water.
  • Jomtien. Staying there? The beach walk is calmer than Central Pattaya.
  • Storm season. Afternoon thundershowers are common. Have a covered backup from our rainy-day plan.
  • Don't book a big tour today. Save Koh Larn and the big sights for tomorrow.

6. Sample timeline: 8am landing at Suvarnabhumi

  1. 08:00Land. Immigration, bags, SIM card, cash.
  2. 09:30–10:30Take the 09:30 or 11:30 RRC bus, an hourly Jomtien bus, or the 10:30 Bell transfer. In a hurry? Take a taxi.
  3. 12:00–13:00Arrive. Drop bags at the front desk. Ask again about early check-in.
  4. 13:00Lunch near the hotel.
  5. 14:00Massage, or a pool day pass if your hotel won't let you use its pool.
  6. 15:00Check in. Shower. Short nap, then out for sunset.

Frequently Asked Questions

Early Arrival FAQs

Q:Can I check in early at a Pattaya hotel?

Often, but rarely guaranteed. Most hotels say early check-in is subject to availability and fees may apply. The only sure way to walk into a room at 9 or 10am is to book the night before your arrival.

Q:Will my Pattaya hotel hold my bags before check-in?

Most will. Hotels such as Heritage Pattaya, Welcome World and The Standard Pattaya say they store luggage if your room is not ready. Not every property does, so ask when you book.

Q:What is the best way from Suvarnabhumi to Pattaya after a morning landing?

The Roong Reuang Coach bus from Level 1, Gate 8 takes about 2 hours: 135 baht to North Pattaya or 158 baht to Jomtien (hourly). Bell Travel runs shared door-to-hotel transfers at 08:30, 10:30 and 12:30. A public taxi from Level 1 is the fastest door-to-door option; agree the total, including tolls and the 50 baht airport fee, before you go.

Q:Where can I shower before my Pattaya hotel room is ready?

Ask your hotel first: some let early arrivals use pool or gym facilities. Otherwise book the room from the night before, a day-use room, or a pool day pass such as Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya (500 baht net per adult, 9am to 7pm). Ask what showers are included before you pay.
